Alt.com Review: What Does It Really Like Inside (+ 9 Alternatives)

Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while now know that Tiffany and I are up for anything. A long, long time ago (meaning years), we came across a quote that said something along the lines of, “I will try anything at least once.”

And that’s sort of been our motto throughout our relationship and sex life. If we see something we might be interested in, we try it. If we like it, we keep doing it as long as it feels good for both of us.

The same is true for the practices of swinging, cuckolding, and hotwifing, as well as more hardcore kinks such as bondage, domination, and different BDSM subsets. We haven’t tried them all, but we’ve certainly tried enough to know what we like and what we may want to skip next time. (And what is next on our list of things to experiment with!)

This brings us to the joyfully kinky world that is Alt.com. Stay tuned for an in-depth review of one of the most popular fetish sites on the web.

What Is Alt.com?

So, what is alt.com? The alt in Alt.com is short for alternative. Meaning unconventional, outside the societal norms, mostly related to BDSM and similar practices. You won’t find any vanilla stories or experiences here, nor people who are looking for regular casual sex. There are plenty of other sites where you can find these. (Check my list of alternative websites below.)

Alt.com is meant for the fans of the unorthodox, for those who love to play roles and enjoy a little (or a lot of) power imbalance in their sexual fantasies. It is a place to connect with like-minded individuals, chat with them discuss your likes and dislikes, and possibly even meet them in real life.

Think of it as Tinder or Adult Friend Finder, but for BDSM.

If you’re into kinky stuff, you won’t find a better place to call home than Alt.com.

Is It FREE?

So, is alt free to use? Unfortunately, this website is not free. In order to look at someone else’s profile, chat, or really use the site in any way, you need to subscribe to a monthly membership.

As of the moment of this review, Alt.com offers gold and silver membership, which, to be quite honest, are not over the top in terms of prices. They’re not the cheapest out there, that I’ll admit, but the cost is really worth the content you get for it.

Furthermore, there is a simple, easy thing you can do on this site for free, and that is to check what type of people there are in your area.

All you need to do is type in your details, and when the site asks you for payment, just click on another part of the site and you’ll be able to use it. (At least for scouting what options you have in terms of potential roleplay buddies.) What a cool hack!

This Is A Good Thing

You may be disappointed by the fact that Alt.com is not free, but let me explain exactly why this is a good thing.

Namely, sites with paywalls are infinitely more serious about their craft than those without. The people frequenting these sites are more reliable and safer, and the content they upload (or that the site provides) is 99.9% better than on the free ones.

Despite having to shell out some cash for Alt.com, you won’t regret doing so once you see all the amazing benefits it comes with.

And in the end, if for whatever reason you feel the site isn’t working for you, you can simply cancel the membership – no harm, no foul.

What Does The Inside Look Like?

inside alt.com

This website isn’t built like your typical porn website. While there may be some seductive images immediately on display, you shouldn’t expect nudity and hardcore porn the moment you log in. (However, I don’t advise opening the site in public, either.)

The site first asks you to create your own profile, complete with uploading your profile picture and including whatever information about yourself you want to share. With that done, you can then venture further into the site.

You can view and contact other members, see their live and recorded video introductions, read blogs, join groups, and peruse through magazine features.

Gold members have access to IM screen names of the members who choose to display them.

You can read and send messages to other people, send virtual gifts, and you can also enjoy adult movies that are on a pay-per-minute basis.

What I especially love about Alt.com is that you can make a profile either as a single person, a couple, or even a group! This makes filtering through what you’re looking for so much easier.

So, it’s time to purchase a membership and review alt.com to see if it’s really worth the money it costs.

In short: you shouldn’t hesitate to try it out, but there are a few things you should know.

If you’re on the kinky side of things, if regular hookups are no longer doing it for you (or never have), then you must try Alt.com. There is no safer, more welcoming place than this community of people who share your fantasies and who just want to connect, either online or in real life.

Alt.com is a frontrunner both in terms of its design and navigation – trust me, there are some sites out there that are not pleasing to the eye in any way – and in terms of the features it offers.

What I Love About This Site

Let’s discuss some of my favorite things about it:

It has a rating picture system

On this site, you don’t only get to upload pictures and see pictures of others. In fact, there is a rating system that allows you to give the pics you see a thumbs up or a thumbs down. It’s easy to filter the gallery by the number of positive votes a picture has to get to the juicy stuff right away.

It’s like Facebook, but kinky

It may not look like it, but Alt.com functions similarly to Facebook. You can browse status updates from other members, peep at their hot pictures and videos, and you can even make friends! As in, add people as your friend.

Not only that, but you can also tip people if you like what you see on their profile, and they can tip you back. It’s a great way to start conversations and make that initial contact. A good tip can be the prelude to an amazing chat (and potentially a meet-up!)

It’s easy to find people

While the ratio of users leans a bit towards the male side, you can still find plenty of people to talk to. The easiest would be to find a single male looking to have some fun or a couple looking for another couple or a solo person to join them.

It’s a bit more difficult if you’re looking for a single female, but not impossible.

Kink Safe Place

The best thing about Alt.com is that you can just be yourself. You don’t have to hide your fetishes or feel ashamed of them. This is the place where you can (and should) let loose!

After all, everyone here comes with kinks similar to yours. As a community, Alt.com is a judgment-free zone, and you can finally relax and enjoy the ride of striking up a conversation and perhaps hitting it off with someone new.

It’s worldwide

The beauty of Alt.com is that it is not confined just to the US. There are plenty of users from Canada, the UK, and other countries, not even only English-speaking ones. If you’re feeling kinky on holiday (or a business trip), you can search to see which Alt.com members are nearby and may be willing to have some fun while you’re in town.

Can be good for validation

If you’re of the exhibitionist type, or just love to see those likes and comments piling up, then you’ll enjoy the social media aspect of Alt.com. Naughty pictures and videos get views ratings and comments, and if they’re all (or mostly) positive, it can be a great boost to your ego.

You Will Get Loads Of Messages

On Alt.com, it’s all about having a good profile. Upload a good picture and fill your page out with information. Be honest! Use a current picture, be open about your preferences, and it won’t take long before men, women, and couples are messaging you daily, looking to play with you.

Pros

  • Ideal for kinksters
  • Like Tinder but for BDSM and alternative people
  • Seductive and inclusive
  • Flawless design
  • Usability is extremely high
  • Easy to find likeminded people
  • Easy to use the site
  • Perfect for singles and couples looking for casual hookups
  • It’s not free which is positive for some people
  • You can be open and honest about what you are looking for
  • People from all over the world to chat with
  • Something for all kinks

Cons

  • The fact that it’s not free is also a con as not everyone’s budget can stretch
  • Some profiles aren’t active any longer
  • It isn’t for serious dating
  • Customer support isn’t the best
  • You can’t send messages for free

Sites Like Alt.com (Some Even Better)

sites like alt.com

I price checked for all the best prices and deals for all the dating sites in this article on the: 14/01/2025

If you’re not impressed by Alt.com or are looking for an alternative to expand your collection of sites to find partners on, then take a look at my comprehensive list of similar, yet still slightly different sites like alt.com.

Here’s a quick breakdown of all alt.com alternatives:

  1. Adult Friend Finder
  2. SwingLifeStyle
  3. Ashley Madison
  4. Fuckbook
  5. FetLife
  6. Tinder
  7. 3nder
  8. Badoo
  9. BiCupid

Now it’s time to actually find out which of these sites is worth your time.

Adult Friend Finder (Favorite)

It is no secret on this blog that Tiffany and I have a special relationship with Adult Friend Finder. This site has been there for us since the moment we first started swinging, all the way through our intense hotwifing phase, down to our beginnings in BDSM with other people.

No matter what type of fantasy you wish to fulfill, no matter what kink you have or what type of partner you’re looking for, you’re bound to find it on Adult Friend Finder. Take my word for it, sign up right now, and make a profile, and you won’t regret it. It will quickly become your go-to site for meeting new kinky people.

SwingLifeStyle

While Swing Lifestyle isn’t confined to fetishes and BDSM, it is still an amazingly large community. With hundreds of thousands of couples looking for other couples, you are likely to find those who wish for some good ol’ sub/dom dynamics in the bedroom.

On Swing Lifestyle, you can make your free account and then go wild. Start a blog or read other members’ blogs, join forums and groups, and look for swingers clubs you can visit in person. Thanks to swingers’ stories and articles, you can get to know the lifestyle more, and become a part of a great group of people who are unconventional in the bedroom.

Ashley Madison (Another Favorite)

So it is a given that Ashley Madison (sites like Ashley Madison) is one of the most popular dating sites on this list. Seriously, if you haven’t heard about it before, then you are about to get a shock.

The reason Ashley Madison is one of my favorites is that the ratio of men and women is amazing. This is one of the few sites that have quite a lot of female members. Additionally, Ashley Madison is a safe place for kinks. You can be as open as you want about BDSM, swinging, and similar fetishes, as long as you’re honest in your communication with others.

The only downside it’s it’s based on people having affairs which is pretty screwed up. A lot of the people we’ve met on there are having consensual affairs, but it’s still a little bit of a grey area.

Fuckbook

Fuckbook is, as you might assume from its name, a social media platform similar to Facebook, only with sex built right in. It is a place where you can make your own profile and message other members, where you upload dirty pics and tease others into chatting with you and potentially meeting you in person.

It functions almost exactly like Facebook, meaning that you have a chat system, you can update your status, share pictures, write blog posts, and they even have a pinboard feature! The main drawback to Fuckbook is that it is not free to use, as you need to pay for a membership in order to message other members.

We also made a big list of social media sex sites like fuckbook, you should definitely check it out.

FetLife (Very Similar)

Okay, get ready for the biggest kinky community that exists on the entirety of the World Wide Web. FetLife promotes itself as a social network for those who are into BDSM and different fetishes and kinks, and it has around 8.4 million registered members. No, you didn’t read that wrong – 8.4 million!

FetLife requires you to sign up to join, which immediately filters out those who are too lazy even to make a profile. Fortunately, creating a profile is free, as is messaging, joining groups, and looking through photos and videos. Some other, less important features come with a cost, but overall, FetLife is cheaper than Alt.com. You can read more about Fetlife here.

Tinder (Casual Dating)

I’m sorry if this one is a bit too obvious. But the truth is, when you’re looking for casual hookups and not a serious, long-term relationship, Tinder is one of the best places to search through! Thousands of people are into no-strings-attached dating, and if you’re open about your kinks, they might even be willing to participate in your fantasy.

The obvious downside here is that you can’t make a profile if you’re a couple and can’t look for other couples either. But if you’re down for someone on one time, then Tinder is the perfect option for great fun, kinky or not.

3nder (Now Called Feeld)

3nder is a mobile app that, put simply, allows you to find people who will join you for a threesome! It is similar to Tinder (right down to the name), only it allows couples to make a profile as well. It is completely free to use, so there’s really no reason for you not to try it out.

The best aspect of this app is that it matches people based on their sexual preferences, their location, and who they know in real life (because you sign up through your Facebook profile). Make sure to list your kinks and what you’re into, and it’s only a matter of time before you find someone to have a hot threesome with you.

Badoo

Similar to OkCupid, Badoo is marketed as a dating site. It is Russian-made and is currently available in 190 countries and in 47 languages. This means that you can try to find a fetish buddy almost anywhere in the world. It is not bad for seeking a relationship either, though it might take a while before you filter through all the people who don’t interest you.

Badoo is free to use, with some of its sections restricted by a paywall. Overall, it is not a bad experience, especially for international dating and casual sex, but I wouldn’t use it as my primary source of potential partners.

BiCupid

And finally, there is the dating site that started out as a play on OkCupid, only for bisexual and bicurious people. However, it is no longer a prerequisite that you are either of these to be on BiCupid since it is a community that welcomes people with any background and any type of sexuality.

Moreover, BiCupid is an incredibly tolerant space. As long as you’re not harassing someone, you can be as forthright about your fetishes as you want to be. Chances are, there is someone out there who shares your kinks and can’t wait to connect on a more intimate level.

Which Ones Do I Recommend And Use The Most?

adultfriendfinder vs okaycupid

Congratulations on going through my extensive list of dating sites similar to Alt.com. In order to make your beginnings easier, my two recommendations would definitely be Adult Friend Finder and Ashley Madison.

Adult Friend Finder is unparalleled when it comes to its relaxed, easygoing community and how fast you can find someone to take part in your kinks. People are there for the same reason as you are – to have some casual sexy fun – and it’s so easy to start chatting with someone and see if they’re a good fit for you.

That being said, Adult Friend Finder can be a little male-dominant. If you’re looking for a female partner, then OkCupid is a better alternative. It works similarly, only you have greater chances of connecting with the type of girl/woman that you’re looking for.

Questions And Answers

woman hypnotizing with her body

Here are some of the questions that I used to have before I signed up, felt like I’d answer them myself, as no one answered them for me.

Is It Just Men?

As I’ve mentioned earlier, Alt.com is a bit heavier on the male side. There are women, without a doubt, but it might be difficult to find them.

However, personally, I haven’t had many problems with that. On Alt.com, I matched with plenty of women as well as men, not to mention couples. It’s a great place if you’re into swinging or threesomes with men.

If you wish to add a woman to your mix, then perhaps OkCupid is a better place to browse through.

Have You Had Any Successful Hookups?

Yes, definitely. Tiffany and I had a few successful hookups with other couples (one of whom we still see on a semi-regular basis), and we’ve made tons of friends that we’re still in touch with. It doesn’t always have to be just about real-life sex. It can also be about simply talking about your kinks and discovering new things and ideas you previously might not have considered.

Even if distance or time doesn’t allow you to meet in person, Alt.com is a great place to meet people willing to have Skype sex. So don’t get disheartened if you realize someone you like is far away. Arrange a sexy video call and see where you go from there. I’m sure everyone will enjoy such a hot virtual session.

Is It Active In My Town/Country?

Alt.com is pretty active in most places around the world. Scroll up to the ‘Is It Free Question to read up on how you can check out which people are local to you.

It goes without saying that the community is the most active in the US, as well as the UK and other English-speaking countries. However, there are those proficient in English in the rest of the world, too, and by signing up for Alt.com is how they hope to find people who have the same fetishes as they do.

Make it easier for them: when you see a local wanting to connect, wherever they may be, reach out! You never know what may come of that meeting in the end.

TL;DR: Overall Verdict Of Alt.Com & Its Alternatives

On the whole, Alt.com is a casual dating site for curious kinksters, bdsm lovers, fetish fantasists, and anyone who just likes things that aren’t so vanilla.

Dubbed as ‘Facebook for kinky people’, a great place to find like-minded people and carefree kinksters who like something a little different. You do need to pay to unlock a majority of the fun features but it’s worth it, especially if you want to find people into the same things as you and are open to online and offline fetish fun.

If Alt.com is something you have already tried and tested out, try out AdultFriendFinder or OkCupid as they both offer casual dating, kinky people, and lots of BDSM enthusiasts.

breakdown of whole article

TL;DR: I use alt.com every day and it’s amazing, but for adult dating, AdultFriendFinder is better and for meeting people in general OkCupid is amazing. It actually has a pretty large BDSM community which surprises most people.

I set this site up with my girlfriend to review adult content and dating sites. We take our time and really test everything we talk about. We have an open relationship which pushed us to test a lot of these amazing sites.
